The horse had a huge impact on Indian life - from spiritual to economic to artistic.  The horse was quickly revered ... became sacred.  Warrior and horse grew to trust, understand and rely on one another - communicating in the most intimate and subtle ways.  The outcome of a battle depended on this bond.
Before battle, the warrior spent a a great deal of time painting his horse - for paint was considered 'war power' and the act of painting was a sacred act.  It was like a prayer to the creator to unify strength and spirit.  It was a prayer of survival.    

For this reason, I decided to utilize Native American symbols and designs in this inking as a tribute to the importance and meaning of the 'War Pony' ...
